Kernels Handed 5-1 Defeat
|
Starting pitcher Cory Brunner fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Beloit Snappers stymie the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 5-1. The Snappers saw their win-loss record go to 18-40. At the same time, the Kernels fell to 23-35.
Beloit used a well-timed hit by Juan Vargas to capture the win. The center fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Snappers ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Brunner.
