Tunnell Spins Gem, South Bend Wins
|
Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium featured a tense pitchers' duel.
The South Bend Cubs downed the Lake County Captains, 2-0, at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. South Bend pitcher Ezra Tunnell had a scintillating performance. Tyler Nielsen closed the door for South Bend, picking up his 5th save of the year.
Lake County could barely put a dent in Tunnell. The right-hander tossed 95 pitches over 7.2 innings for the Cubs, allowing only 4 hits.
"We didn't get too many good swings against Ezra," said Lake County manager Joe Bumpus.
South Bend, now 29-30, holds down 6th place in the Eastern Division.
