The South Bend Cubs got a superb performance from pitcher Nick Lippoldt, but the Dayton Dragons still won the game, 6-4. Lippoldt threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Jonathan Godoy earned the save for Dayton, his 8th. Dayton's record now stands at 33-25, placing them 4th in the Eastern Division.

Dayton used the timely hitting of Pete Martens to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dragons on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"A great game, a great day," said Martens about the win. "I can't complain."
