Dayton Falters Again, Loses, 5-2, to Bowling Green
|
Bowling Green beat Dayton in a rain-soaked ballgame.
Though he had a great game, Chris Gilmore could not single-handedly produce a win for Dayton. Bowling Green won the game, 5-2. Gilmore went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Angelo Garza earned the win, while 20-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Epp took the loss for Dayton. A.J. Thieke picked up the save, his 12th.
Tom McAlear dealt the Dragons a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Bowling Green leading 3-2, McAlear, who is tied for 2nd in the MID in bases on balls with 30, hit a first pitch sinker for a 2-run single.
"I thought we competed really well," said Hot Rods manager Ernesto Torre. "I thought the energy was really good."
With the win, Bowling Green has a record of 27-32. Dayton falls to 28-31.
