Bees Get Hard-Earned Win
The Burlington Bees beat the Quad Cities River Bandits by a score of 6-5. Burlington left fielder Bill Bernard deserved the lion's share of the credit. Bernard was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Bees. Marquise Ceresa picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Erik Petrucci suffered the loss. Picking up his 2nd save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Ernie Anderson.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Kyle Gomez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Quad Cities pitcher David Cortez, he hit a first pitch slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Burlington on top, 6-5.

"We scored enough runs to win," said Bernard.

With the win, Burlington raised its record to 31-30.
