Loons Hang 6-1 Loss on TinCaps
|
The Great Lakes Loons stifled the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 6-1, at Parkview Field. Jarrod Lahti, who is tied for 3rd in the MID in runs scored with 38, had his hitting cap on. He went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Great Lakes. Great Lakes starter Sal Iracheta was credited with the win after throwing 103 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Great Lakes is in first place in the Eastern Division with a record of 45-17.
Ivan Jimenez had a big 2-run double for the Loons in the top of the fifth inning. With Great Lakes leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Thomas and swatted a double to center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Loons ahead, 5-0.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Lahti.
