Cougars Squeeze By Clinton, 5-4
|
The Clinton LumberKings got a superb performance from pitcher Chris Gyory, but the Kane County Cougars still won the game, 5-4. Gyory threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Kane County reliever Brandon Archer picked up the win, raising his record to 4-3. Antonio Jimenez was tagged with the loss. Hackett Miller finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Kane County used the timely hitting of Ryan Evans to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cougars on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Evans.
The win puts Kane County at 36-28 this season.
