Loons Earn Clutch Win, 1-0
|
Great Lakes Loons pitcher Manuel Carrasco was in fine form, leading his team past the Lansing Lugnuts, 1-0. Great Lakes, now 33-32, holds down third place in the Eastern Division.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Jose Cuadrado came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Lansing pitcher Jason Clark, he hit a 3-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Great Lakes on top, 1-0.
"Watch and learn," said Cuadrado. "This is what good pitching looks like."
