Dragons Upend Hot Rods, 4-2

Dayton turned a good effort from starter Brian Scalfaro into a win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Bowling Green Ballpark. The Dragons won the game, 4-2. Scalfaro yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-6. Andy Hert sewed up the save, his 8th.
Dayton used a clutch at-bat from Phil Young to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Dragons ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I pretty much put my pitches where I wanted to," said Scalfaro.
By defeating Bowling Green, the 7th-place Dragons improved to 29-36.
