Late Rally by Loons Locks Up 8-4 Win
|
The Great Lakes Loons overcame a good performance by Lansing shortstop Devon Phillips to knock off Lansing, 8-4, at Dow Diamond. Phillips was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The Loons raised their record to 38-29.
Alex Villalpando was the walk-off hero for Great Lakes. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Loons pinch hitter hit a dramatic grand slam home run to send the teams home.
"The ending was a real humdinger," Villalpando told reporters after the game.
