Cougars Notch 5-1 Win Versus LumberKings
|
The game between Kane County and Clinton is in the books, despite a little rain.
Kane County registered a win at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark by beating the Clinton LumberKings, 5-1. Pitcher Nick Stephens was one reason why the Cougars triumphed. With the win, Kane County goes to 26-41, while the LumberKings fall to 18-49.
Jerry Cantu had a big 3-run home run for the Cougars in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Kane County leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Brett Wyrick and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Cougars on top, 5-0.
Kane County manager Robby Bilodeau said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
