The Bowling Green Hot Rods had to weather a strong performance from South Bend pitcher Jeremy Hovis before claiming a 2-0 win in 10 innings. Hovis went 7 innings and allowed no runs. Sam Winston picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Manuel Morales was tagged with the loss. The 7th-place Hot Rods are 32-37.

Bowling Green used a timely hit from Ramon Franco to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Hot Rods ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"Makes our job easier," said Franco, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
