Starting pitcher Bill Caudell pitched well enough to help the Binghamton Mets beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 5-4. The Mets, now 12-5, have been sizzling early on.

Binghamton used the timely hitting of Cesar Contreras to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mets ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Contreras said.
