Harry C. Pohlman Field was the site for Midwest League action featuring the Peoria Chiefs and Beloit Snappers.

The Beloit Snappers got a stellar effort from pitcher Jose Gomez, helping Beloit score a win over the visiting Peoria Chiefs, 5-0. Gomez, now 7-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs.

The Snappers got an important contribution from designated hitter Milt May, who in the bottom of the third punched a first pitch sinker into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Snappers ahead, 3-0.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Gomez told the Beloit Today. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."

The victory gives the Snappers a record of 39-33.
