In a low-scoring contest between the Cedar Rapids Kernels and the Kane County Cougars, 21-year old right-handed pitcher Miguel Toscano proved to be the difference. The Cedar Rapids right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-0 Kernels win. The win was credited to Danny Clark in relief. His record improves to 6-5. Jason Burtner took the loss. Kevin Hair earned the save for Cedar Rapids.

Steve Richardson had a direct impact on the outcome. Richardson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Cedar Rapids up, 2-0.

"It was a good effort all around," said Toscano.

With the win, Cedar Rapids has a record of 41-31. Kane County falls to 45-27.
