Cougars Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Kane County Cougars did just enough to secure a victory over the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 4-3, in 10 innings at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Jason Burtner. Kane County is second in the Western Division with a record of 41-32.
With a runner on 2nd and no one out in the top of the ninth inning, right fielder Luke Russell delivered big for the Cougars. Kane County was trailing 3-1 when he belted a 2-run home run.
"It was terrific getting this win," Burtner said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
