Hot Rods Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
The Bowling Green Hot Rods used a great performance from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Jason Wengerd to beat the South Bend Cubs, 1-0, at Bowling Green Ballpark. Mark Burrell earned the save for Bowling Green, his 7th of the year. Bowling Green, with the win, is 23-50.

With two out in the bottom of the fifth, Jose Medina put Bowling Green in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Hot Rods went on to win the ballgame.

"That's baseball," said South Bend manager Roy Ofstad. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
