Whitecaps Spill Captains, 8-3
|
The West Michigan Whitecaps topped the Lake County Captains, 8-3, in Midwest League action at Fifth Third Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to West Michigan pitcher and Rochester, New York, native Leon Barretto. The Whitecaps saw their record improve to 50-23.
Mike Arnberg was 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for West Michigan. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Chad Blum. It was his 22nd walk of the season.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Barretto.
