4-3 Win Gets South Bend to 38-36
|
The Bowling Green Hot Rods and South Bend Cubs provided some drama for the home crowd.
The South Bend Cubs picked up a win at Bowling Green Ballpark, dropping the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 4-3. Tris Johnson, who is tied for 5th in the MID in holds with 4, was the difference-maker. South Bend is now 38-36, while Bowling Green is 33-41.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Gabe Nesmith? The South Bend second baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cubs on top, 4-1. For the game, Nesmith had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"I was a little disappointed," said Bowling Green manager Ernesto Torre. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
