Bees Top Chiefs, 1-0
|
Burlington picked up a win at Community Field, bumping off the Peoria Chiefs, 1-0. Pitcher Nate Steele was a major reason the Bees emerged victorious. Steele went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-4. David Lerma collected save number 3.
Burlington third baseman Jason Glennon contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a changeup into right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 23rd hit of the season and put the Bees ahead, 1-0.
Steele was in a reflective mood after the contest. He told the Burlington Daily, "Every game is it's own challenge. That's what keeps the competitive fire alive."
Burlington is now 36-39, Peoria 36-39.
