Lugnuts Slip Past Captains, 6-4

The Lansing Lugnuts reigned over the Lake County Captains in damp conditions.
The Lansing Lugnuts withstood a fine game by Lake County left fielder Luis Cornelio Horan at Cooley Law School Stadium, to upend the Captains, 6-4. Horan was 4 for 5 with a triple and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Josh Shields, now 3-1, was credited with the win in 3.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 3 and walking 0.
Lansing took advantage of an error in the bottom of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 4-4, when Devon Smith hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the Lugnuts in front, 6-4.
Smith called it "a solid win."
The Lugnuts improved to 37-39.
