Dragons Earn 5-3 Home Win
|
The Dayton Dragons beat the South Bend Cubs, 5-3. Dayton pitcher and Delaware, Ohio, native Ralph Taggart led the way. In 6.1 innings, Taggart surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Bennie Hanson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 18 save opportunities.
The Dragons got a big at-bat from second baseman Fredrik Kristensen. For the game, Kristensen went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Dayton a 2-1 lead.
"Ralph looked very determined to have a good game," said Dayton manager Jorge Rosado. "He was totally focused and he produced."
Dayton is now 39-38, South Bend 35-42.
