The Fort Wayne TinCaps eked out a 3-2 win versus the Lansing Lugnuts at Parkview Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Rich Sanchez. He was terrific. Bill Pierce collected his 1st save. The 'W' lifts Fort Wayne's record to 37-40.
The Lugnuts had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the TinCaps going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old catcher Danny Chacon came to the plate. Chacon hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 changeup from Lansing hurler Brian Revis. It was Chacon's 3rd double of the year.
"This was a tough loss," said Lansing manager Phil Phalen. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
