The Peoria Chiefs and Burlington Bees put on a pitchers' duel.
The Peoria Chiefs picked up a win at Community Field, knocking off the Burlington Bees, 2-1. Starting pitcher David Mueller was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Mueller, now 2-0. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. The save went to Ignacio Andrade, number 3 for him.
Peoria used the timely hitting of Jose Pineiro to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning is the only objective," said Pineiro after the game.
At 40-37, Peoria is in third place in the Western Division.
