Chiefs Walk It Off for 42nd Win of Season
|
Peoria pitcher Blake Costello did his part in helping his team beat the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The win was credited to 22-year old left-handed pitcher Tom Likins in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Ben Hollingsworth took the loss. Peoria sits in third place in the Western Division at 42-37.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Kernels allowed the Chiefs to score the winning run.
"What an ending!" said a jubilant Stone.
