The Peoria Chiefs did just enough to sneak past the Quad Cities River Bandits, 5-4, at Dozer Park. Peoria pitcher Angel Penunuri, in particular, had a standout performance. Jonathan Saiz, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Peoria goes to 54-25. The win puts them 9½ games up in their division.

Peoria took a 5-4 lead on Tony Ojeda's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Ojeda hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Quad Cities pitcher Rich Liverman visibly frustrated.

"Angel was aggressive right out of the chute," said Peoria manager Tommy Davenport.
