The Great Lakes Loons downed the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 5-3, at Dow Diamond. John Kieler led the way, going 2-for-3 for Great Lakes. John Calvert, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 11 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Great Lakes is now 54-26, 6½ games up in the Eastern Division.

The Loons got a big at-bat from third baseman Jeremy Strickland. For the game, Strickland went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Great Lakes a 3-2 lead.

Kieler told a Great Lakes Daily News reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
