Dow Diamond hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.

Great Lakes pitcher Humberto Rivera gave the TinCaps all they could handle, but in the end, Fort Wayne left Dow Diamond with a win, 1-0. Rivera allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 6 innings. Fort Wayne pitcher Jon Hodge earned the win, hiking his record to 2-0. Humberto Rivera suffered the loss. Mark Ayers recorded the save for Fort Wayne, his 3rd of the season.

It could have been a different outcome for Fort Wayne, had it not been for Jorge Ruiz, the 25-year old center fielder . Ruiz contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Fort Wayne up, 1-0.

Ruiz told a Fort Wayne Today reporter that he was "very happy" with the win.
