Whitecaps Earn Clutch Win, 9-8
The West Michigan Whitecaps outlasted Josh Parham and the Great Lakes Loons, 9-8. Parham was impressive in the loss. The Great Lakes right fielder went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. West Michigan reliever Jesus Rayas was the winner. His record is now 3-8. The losing pitcher was Pat Beavers. With the win, West Michigan has a record of 40-42. Great Lakes falls to 54-28.

Azua, Dominican Republic-born Miguel Grado came through in the clutch. In the top of the ninth, with the bases loaded and the Whitecaps trailing 8-7, he hit a 2-run single to right to put West Michigan on top.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Grado.
