Rick Roberts put on a hitting clinic as the West Michigan Whitecaps dumped the Lansing Lugnuts, 9-2, at Cooley Law School Stadium.

The West Michigan third baseman made Lansing defenders earn their pay, lashing Lansing pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game. He told BNN reporters after the game that his strategy was "just hit it where they pitched it."

"Too often I try too hard to pull the ball," Roberts said in his postgame press conference. "Today, I just went with the pitch."
