Captains Send Great Lakes Home with 5-1 Loss
|
The Lake County Captains got a stellar performance from pitcher Chris Huffstickler, who handcuffed the Great Lakes offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Classic Park. Chris Huffstickler picked up the win in relief. Alex Gonzalez took the loss for Great Lakes. With the win, Lake County pushed its record to 44-37.
Rick Hershberger had a big 3-run home run for the Captains in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Lake County leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Alex Gonzalez and swatted a home run to left-center. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Captains ahead, 5-1.
Captains manager Justin Hollingsworth raved about Huffstickler after the game. "I thought Chris was 'lights out.'"
