Captains Get One-Run Win at South Bend
|
Lake County starter Mark Krause pitched well against the South Bend Cubs at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-4. Krause got the win, improving to 7-7. He gave up 8 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed 4 runs. At 39-44, the Captains find themselves in 7th place in the Eastern Division.
In the top of the 6th, third baseman Jonathan Kay gave Lake County the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Captains had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out single off South Bend pitcher Tris Johnson changed that -- and Lake County went on to win.
"Mark was pounding the zone," said Lake County manager Garrett Holt.
