Win Makes Kane County 47-36
|
The Kane County Cougars picked up a win at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, knocking off the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 5-4. Starting pitcher Jason Burtner played a key role in the triumph. Kane County has now won 4 straight.
Ryan Evans had a big bases-clearing triple for the Cougars in the bottom of the first inning. With Kane County leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Jon Sotelo, who is tied for 8th in the MID with a 9.3 K/9 rate, and swatted a triple to left. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cougars ahead, 5-1.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Kane County manager Vince Lindsay.
