The Great Lakes Loons defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 4-1, in Midwest League action at Dow Diamond. Great Lakes pitcher Jayden Smith had a standout performance. The 4th-place TinCaps dropped to 47-39.

In the bottom of the sixth, Great Lakes center fielder Jalen Nelson gave his team the lead. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Sugar Bear hit his 7th double of the year. Fort Wayne pitcher Justin Ray surrendered it. With that, the Loons jumped in front, 2-1.

"Jayden was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Great Lakes manager Jake Landen.
