The Lansing Lugnuts beat the South Bend Cubs, 4-1. Lansing pitcher and Moca, Dominican Republic, native Rodrigo Valladares led the way. Valladares got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed no runs. The Lugnuts now own a record of 43-44.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Matt Fairley? The Lansing right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Lugnuts on top, 1-0. For the game, Fairley had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Valladares told the Lansing News.
