Snappers Beat LumberKings, 3-1
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Harry C. Pohlman Field.
Ian Lowe, who is tied for 9th in the MID in strikeouts with 104, had a strong outing for the Beloit Snappers against the Clinton LumberKings at Harry C. Pohlman Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-1 win. Lowe yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-6. John Ries recorded the save, his 5th.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Snappers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when designated hitter Colin Guard hit a 2-run single. The single came off Bob Gardner and made the score 3-0, Snappers. Guard was 1-2 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs.
In postgame remarks, Guard applauded his team's "resolve."
Yes, it was a win for Beloit; but their 29-58 record is still nothing to boast about.
