The Lansing Lugnuts and South Bend Cubs played an exciting game.

Lansing starter Jose Rios pitched well against the South Bend Cubs at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. The winner was Rios. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The loser was Ryan LaBrasca.

Matt Fairley came through with a big-time hit for Lansing. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I just made my pitches," said Rios, "and the ball kept missing the bat."

With the win, Lansing upped its record to 44-44.
