The Peoria Chiefs racked up a win at Dozer Park, bumping off the Kane County Cougars, 4-3, in 10 innings. Jim Reich, who started for Peoria, pitched effectively for his team. Peoria, at 59-29, occupies first place in the Western Division.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Peoria right fielder Fernando Morales, facing Mike Newman, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Chiefs the 4-3 win.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Tommy Davenport, the Peoria skipper. "This one tested us."
