Both offenses were relatively subdued at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Fortunately for the Burlington Bees, though, Pete Kennedy was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs, to lead his team past the Kane County Cougars, 3-1. Juan Trevino earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 5 hits in 4.2 innings. He upped his record to 2-1. Burlington is sailing along at 60-28.
Miguel Brenes came through with a big-time hit for Burlington. The center fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager Vince Lindsay.
