Loons Slip Past Lugnuts, 5-1
|
At Dow Diamond, the Lansing Lugnuts and Great Lakes Loons were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Loons grabbed a win, 5-1, at Dow Diamond, overcoming a fine effort from Lansing pitcher Mike Aguilar. Aguilar went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. With this game in the books, Great Lakes is 53-36, Lansing 54-35.
Had Kevin Toole not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Toole hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Loons.
"When you win, you always have confidence," said Great Lakes skipper Victor Albino. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."
