The Clinton LumberKings defeated the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 2-1, in Midwest League action at Ashford University Field. Clinton pitcher Mike England had a standout performance. England yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-3. Nazih bin Burhan wrapped it up, recording his 7th save.
Early in the game, second baseman Ian Miller had a run-scoring triple for Clinton. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the LumberKings on top, 1-0.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Bowling Green manager Ernesto Torre. "Obviously."
At 38-53, the LumberKings claim 6th place in the Western Division.
