The Great Lakes Loons picked up a win at Dow Diamond, dropping the Peoria Chiefs, 5-4. Tyler Jones, who is tied for 7th in the MID in quality starts with 11, was the difference-maker. Jones yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 10-5. Alfonso Romero was credited with the save, his 8th in 10 tries.

Great Lakes left fielder Rodolfo Olmo contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a slider to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 82nd hit of the season and put the Loons ahead, 5-2.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Peoria manager Tommy Davenport said, following the tough loss.

With the win, the Loons hiked their record to 52-40.
