McSwain Belts 2 Homers in 9-8 Win
The Kane County Cougars trumped the West Michigan Whitecaps, 9-8, at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Kane County right fielder Ian McSwain was terrific. He went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The win went to Jared Andrae in relief, making him now 1-0. Elias Salinas took the loss for West Michigan. Chi-ju Tze was credited with the save, his 23rd in 27 tries.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Cougars grabbed the lead when McSwain hit his 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Rogelio Espinosa made it 9-7, Kane County.

"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said McSwain.

The Cougars lead the Western Division by 3½ games.
