Kernels Suffer 3-1 Home Loss
|
The Great Lakes Loons picked up a win at Veterans Memorial Stadium, courtesy of Carlos Lemus. The right-hander helped his team stop the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 3-1. In 8 innings, Lemus surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Kevin Rivas finished to wrap up his 28th save.
Great Lakes used a well-timed hit by Terry Walker to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Loons ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Lemus said.
Great Lakes, at 63-30, is cruising.
