Bowling Green turned a good performance from starting pitcher Angelo Garza into a 5-1 triumph over the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Bowling Green Ballpark. Jonathan Quimby, who is tied for 5th in the MID in holds with 5, earned the save for Bowling Green. The Hot Rods saw their win-loss record go to 37-60. At the same time, the Kernels fell to 39-58.

The Hot Rods got a big at-bat from second baseman John Ritter. For the game, Ritter went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Bowling Green a 3-0 lead.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Ritter said.
