The West Michigan Whitecaps used a stellar performance from pitcher Dan Brown to throttle the Beloit offense en route to an extra-inning, 4-2 win at Harry C. Pohlman Field. West Michigan reliever Edward McLaughlin picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. John Ries took the loss. Melvin Caballero closed it out for his 5th save.

Mike Severs came through with a big-time hit for West Michigan. The shortstop smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 4-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

In postgame remarks, Brown said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."

The setback makes Beloit 34-65.
