TinCaps Lasso 2-1 Victory
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Fort Wayne and West Michigan from playing their scheduled game.
In a low-scoring affair between the Fort Wayne TinCaps and the West Michigan Whitecaps, pitcher Juan Rangel was the difference between victory and defeat. The Fort Wayne right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 TinCaps win. Rangel yielded 1 run over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 4-0. Tony Navarro was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 11 save opportunities.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Adam Harvey? The Fort Wayne second baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the TinCaps on top, 2-1. For the game, Harvey had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said West Michigan skipper Ben King, "and it cost us."
The 5th-place TinCaps improved to 56-47.
