Kernels Make It 4 In a Row with 5-2 Triumph Over Burlington

The Cedar Rapids Kernels defeated the Burlington Bees, 5-2, at Community Field. Kyle Reames was a standout performer for Cedar Rapids. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. The winner was Bobby Harris in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jim McDow took the loss. Kyle Nissen got credit for the save for Cedar Rapids. It was his 18th of the year.
Cedar Rapids relied on the hitting of Brett Christian to pick up the win. The second baseman ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the third inning to put the Kernels on top, 3-0. For the game, Christian had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Reames said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
Cedar Rapids is now 46-57. Burlington is 35-68.
