Bowling Green Ballpark was the site for Midwest League action featuring the Bowling Green Hot Rods and West Michigan Whitecaps.

In a low-scoring affair between the West Michigan Whitecaps and the Bowling Green Hot Rods, pitcher Chris Washington was the difference between victory and defeat. The West Michigan left-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Whitecaps win. Washington, the winner, moves to 2-8. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 3 walks.

West Michigan used the clutch hitting of Fulvio Sartoretti to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to give the Whitecaps the lead, 2-0. For the game, Sartoretti had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Washington told a West Michigan Gazette reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
