Lugnuts Win at West Michigan, 2-1
|
The Lansing Lugnuts got a strong performance from pitcher Chris Daniels, who stymied the West Michigan offense en route to a win, 2-1, at Fifth Third Ballpark. Daniels, the winner, moves to 8-8. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 3 walks. Their 51-55 record puts the Lugnuts 5th in the Eastern Division.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 20-year old catcher Danny Miranda. Miranda had a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lugnuts ahead, 2-1. For the game, Miranda had 1 double and 1 single in 2 at-bats.
"At the end of the day, it's about putting up zeros," said Daniels.
