Hot Rods Thrill Fans with 5-2 Win
|
Getting a good performance from pinch hitter Tyler Thorne, the Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the Dayton Dragons, 5-2. Thorne went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Hot Rods. Brent Watson earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 5-2. The last-place Hot Rods hiked their record to 48-59.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Bowling Green trailing 2-1, Thorne jumped on a slider from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Cody Cochran and hit a grand slam home run to left. With one swing, the Hot Rods had a walk-off win.
"That was high adrenalin and it was fun," Thorne said.
