The West Michigan Whitecaps did just enough to sneak past the Lansing Lugnuts, 6-5, at Fifth Third Ballpark. West Michigan pitcher John Lee, in particular, had a standout performance. Leon Barretto, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 0. The second-place Whitecaps go to 61-46.

The Whitecaps got a clutch hit from shortstop Walt Hahn. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Whitecaps.

"This joint was rocking," said Hahn.
