The West Michigan Whitecaps clobbered the Dayton Dragons, 13-3, at Fifth Third Ballpark. West Michigan designated hitter Kevin Silvers led the onslaught. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Alex Garza picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 7-5. Robby Crowell earned the save, his 2nd, for the Whitecaps.

Johnny Gonzalez cracked a home run off Luis Sanchez in the bottom of the second. His 2-run blast put the Whitecaps on top, 4-3. In all, Gonzalez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

Gonzalez told the West Michigan Daily: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."

With the win, West Michigan pushed its record to 71-36.
